Robert Scott received a PhD in sociology from the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Drawing on his firefighting experience as well as primary interview data, his research examines wildland firefighters' responses to peer fatalities in the line of duty, including how such deaths affect ongoing work performance. For the RAPs, he teaches Introduction to Sociology, highlighting how social forces shape human behavior and everyday experience. An objective of his teaching is to develop students' reading, writing, and thinking skills so they can make positive contributions for humanity. He tries to inspire within students a desire for life-long learning. Aside from research and teaching, he enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and skiing, as well as reading in the areas of history and philosophy. He cherishes his time with family and friends and his dog, Pippa.Ìý
